Recap: Atlanta Goalkeeping Camp ,Grateful for Year 2

I’m filled with gratitude as I reflect on another incredible year at the Atlanta Goalkeeping Camp. This was year two for me, and I can confidently say: I highly recommend this camp to any goalkeeper looking to grow. This year, I had the chance to work closely with the youth group, and honestly , it was inspiring. Watching a group of young goalkeepers come together, push each other, support one another, and work toward getting better each day was nothing short of amazing. The environment created here isn't just about drills and reps. It’s about culture. It’s about community.

First and foremost, I want to thank Christian and Ludvig for organizing and leading this camp. They’ve built more than just a training ground, they’ve created a space where goalkeepers can train at the highest level, and where coaches can learn, grow, and connect.

It’s rare to find a setting where goalkeeper coaches can have real conversations — breaking down sessions, brainstorming new ideas, and challenging each other’s philosophies. One of my favorite moments from this year was a deep discussion we had on Friday. We debated topics like:

  • Why do we still use volleys in training when they rarely occur in real match situations?

  • How can we design sessions that truly reflect the demands of modern goalkeeping?

These were conversations that made us question, evolve, and think outside the box.

The coaching staff at this camp is filled with professionals who are clearly there because they have the resources. They’re asking questions, seeking education, creating innovative sessions, and pushing goalkeeping forward. You can tell why they’re in the positions they are.

One thought that stuck with me: many people say it’s hard to find great goalkeepers nowadays. And while the marginalization of the goalkeeper role in modern soccer may play a part, another reason might be how we coach. Goalkeeper coaching hasn’t always evolved at the same pace as the rest of the game. But camps like this , with passionate coaches who are open to new ideas , give me hope that we’re moving in the right direction.

This camp wasn’t just a teaching experience , it was a learning one for me too. I observed different age groups, analyzed performances, adjusted communication styles, and challenged myself to grow with every session.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing:

  • Videos from the camp

  • Breakdowns of specific sessions and methods

  • Deeper reflections on the future of goalkeeper coaching

So stay tuned — there’s a lot more to come.

Thanks again to everyone who made this camp what it was. Coaches, goalkeepers, parents, you all played a part in building something special.

Let’s keep raising the standard for goalkeeper development. one session, one camp, one conversation at a time.
